When it comes to disrupting entire industries and building transformative customer experiences, you have to have an exceptional team that can build these products at pace.

Our team at gravity9 is just that; highly skilled, driven, passionate, and fun to work with!

We continue our Meet the gravity9ers series with the introduction of Scott Haydon.

What is your role at gravity9?

I am a UX/UI Designer, working on a range of client projects. I work with the Product Owner to understand the client’s problems and requests which I solve through designs and prototypes. I then work with the developers to achieve the best implementation of those designs.

What do you enjoy most about working at gravity9?

Everyone is really positive and helpful and there is a genuinely great team spirit. We all work hard to produce high level work that benefits our clients and in turn helps others. There are always new projects coming in which enables me to develop my skills and to do good work that will benefit a wide range of people – it’s a great feeling.

What one piece of advice would you give to someone starting out in your line of work?

I remember reading a quote a long time back that really resonated with me and I always ty to apply it; ‘We have two ears and one mouth’, essentially saying we need to listen twice as much as we speak. I always try to listen to the client’s needs and understand exactly what their problem is and not assume I know the answer before fully understanding the problem.

What can’t you start your day without?

Recently I’ve tried to get into taking cold showers. It wakes you up, that’s for sure. Then a strong coffee. If I have much energy I will try and go for a run but we have two children under two so time isn’t something we have a lot of.

What do you do in your spare time?

With two young children most of the spare time is about them and trying to keep them entertained, the park, the woods etc. Any spare time I have on top of that I like to use to keep fit and go for a run as it’s great for clearing my head.

What was the last movie you watched?

We usually have Pixar on repeat for the children but the only one I remember watching recently was The Gentleman which I really enjoyed. Great if you enjoy Snatch or Lock stock.

What special skill or talent do you have other than what you do for a living?

I’m quite handy at drawing and sketching. I used to draw a lot when I was younger mostly cartoon characters.

Where would your dream holiday be?

Somewhere the whole family could enjoy with good mix of nature, nice scenery and adventure. As a family we are not sun worshipers so somewhere like Canada would be great or even a road trip around Ireland as my wife is from Irish decent so it would be good to explore over there.

What is the last song you had stuck in your head?

The one that is in my head is that silly sea shanty song that recently came out – it’s so annoying but catchy.
