Meet Paweł Pindel: gravity9’s QA Automation Expert
When it comes to disrupting entire industries and building transformative customer experiences, you have to have an exceptional team that can build these products at pace.
Our team at gravity9 is just that; highly skilled, driven, passionate, and fun to work with!
We continue our Meet the gravity9ers series with the introduction of Pawel Pindel.
What is your role at gravity9?
I’m a Technical Lead. I joined the company in June 2021 as a Senior .NET Developer to build a product for one of our largest clients. After a year of working on that, I was promoted to the Technical Leader of one of the teams that are focused on developing end-user applications.
What do you enjoy most about working at gravity9?
Flexibility. You can work whenever you want, on whatever PC setup you wish, and at any time you prefer (so long as you deliver to your client). I have a couple of meetings during the day that I need to attend, but it doesn’t stop me from doing things I love in the morning, like swimming or jogging!
What one piece of advice would you give to someone starting out in your line of work?
Don’t be afraid! Starting in a Team Lead role might sound like a big deal and a lot of hard work. Indeed, there are a lot of new duties and responsibilities, however, there are many people at gravity9 who will be more than happy to help you and guide you in how to handle all of this!
What can’t you start your day without?
A proper breakfast! This is what makes my day from the very beginning – if I miss that – I already know that the day will be bad. I always wake up early to prepare for the day.
What do you do in your spare time?
I love nature and mountains. No matter the weather, I try to spend some time at nearby parks or forests every day to chill and clear my mind.
During weekends I go hiking and camping. With more time I like to take my tent and tools to spend a night or two in the wildness!
What is the last movie you watched?
I am more into TV series than movies to be honest. The last series I finished is The Mandalorian. I’ve never been a fan of Star Wars – I was raised on Lord of the Rings and other Middle-earth based productions/books…
However, after watching this series I have to say I’m very eager to learn more about the Star Wars universe – I’m looking for some spare time to dedicate to watching the movies now!
What special skill or talent do you have (other than what you do for a living)?
I know how to survive!
Thanks to the many hours spent in the wild, hitchhiking around the world and sleeping in different wild places, I know how to handle nature with a basic set of tools to hand. I even have a certificate from a weekend survival course I took part in.
What would be your dream vacation?
I have dreamt for a long time of taking my backpack and my lovely wife for a hiking trip through the mountains.
We have a trial in Poland called “Główny Szlak Beskidzki” which is the largest tourist trail in the Polish mountains; 500 km long and it takes about 160 hours to walk! I will definitely try it in the next few years.
What is the last song you had stuck in your head?
The song I keep singing taking shower recently is Sabaton – To Hell and Back.
