With the Paralympic Games looking certain to go ahead and less than 100 days until the event Kingsley is focused on his training. His boat is on its way to Japan and this week he took delivery of his Nigeria kit, which we are excited to see, as it will feature the gravity9 logo!

The games, still branded as Tokyo 2020,will be a very different affair this year, as there will be no international supporters. “I am disappointed my friends and family can’t come out  to watch me compete but its normally only the last 250m you can see and hear the crowds anyway and it’s enough for me knowing they will be watching me remotely” says Kingsley.

Kingsley is working to a tough regime at the moment, every morning up at 4.45am to drive to Marlow for his water session at 6am. Then two hours on the water before returning home to be back at his desk for a day of programming and training at 8.45am. Only after his morning stand up does he finally manage to stretch and work through his . Then in the evening its back to strength and speed training in the gym so it really is nonstop. “I don’t mind the busy days; they keep me focused and the excitement is setting in now. I will be the first ever Paralympic rower competing for Nigeria so I am proud to be wearing the colours of my birth country and representing the nation.”

As the games get closer the training will ramp up even more, but this isn’t something that phases Kingsley, the determination, the focus and the ambition in his voice is clear when he speaks of his journey to these games. To think that just nine years ago Kingsley sat inside a rowing boat and now hear is set to compete in the biggest Paralympic even in the world, that is quite an achievement and one Kingsley, as you would expect just takes in his stride.
