When it comes to disrupting entire industries and building transformative customer experiences, you have to have an exceptional team that can build these products at pace.

Our team at gravity9 is just that; highly skilled, driven, passionate, and fun to work with!

We continue our Meet the gravity9ers series with the introduction of Maciej Kunysz.

What is your role at gravity9?

My official job title is Talent Acquisition Partner. I am mainly responsible for recruitment, onboarding and some other business initiatives. I work closely with the management team in order to understand our recruitment needs and bring the top talent onboard.

What do you enjoy most about working at gravity9?

The people. All people that work atgravity9 are professional, friendly and helpful so I just love working with people like this. I also really enjoy the company vibe. My work background is big global corporations so I really enjoy the smaller company culture and greater flexibility around all aspects of work.  We also work in a hybrid model, so I appreciate the flexibility to go into the office as and when we choose.  I am given independence and freedom in my work; I choose the recruitment strategy and how to spend the budget- I think flexibility is the key word here.

What one piece of advice would you give to someone starting out in your line of work?

Changing jobs is a big deal and often associated with uncertainty and risk in general so, as a recruiter, you need to ensure that this is a smooth process for everyone, especially the candidates. Build relationships, listen, ask questions and make the candidates feel comfortable, be emphatic and understand their needs. Not sharing feedback is one of the seven deadly sins of recruitment as this is something you should always do with candidates.

What can’t you start your day without?

I really love music, I cannot start my day without music, when I wake up, I turn my stereo on, plus when I leave home, I always take my headphones. I love all genres of music but mostly electronic, contemporary modern jazz, and classic rap.

What do you do in your spare time?

I recently got a Basenji puppy, Taco, he requires a lot of attention as he is only 3.5 months old. I also read, listen to music, watch a lot of NBA basketball on TV. I enjoy cooking but I also try to enjoy a good pizza spot at least once a week as I am a huge pizza fan!  Last year I also rediscovered the Polish mountains so I am always down for a good mountain hike and now I can take Taco with me.

What is the last movie you watched?

I haven’t really been watching a lot of movies lately. The last one I remember is the Hobbit trilogy, I’m more into shows HBO, The Wire is my all-time favourite.

What special skill /talent do you have (other than what you do for a living)?

I would probably go with DIY and a little interior design. I wouldn’t be able to make a living out of these skills but I enjoy them. I bought an apartment last year and I was able to get involved in the layout and styling which was great fun. I especially enjoy woodwork, you can get a lot of tips and tricks from YouTube tutorials, I find it pretty relaxing.

What would be your dream vacation?

I love travelling and have travelled a lot throughout my life but there are so many places still on my list. Two places I want to go to are Japan and Iceland, mostly because of the amazing nature of these places. I’d also like to revisit the USA, especially the West Coast to go hiking in the national parks and mountains – I think I need a two-month vacation to take my time visiting these places!

What is the last song you had stuck in your head?

I’d go for ‘The Internet, La Di Da’, it’s a fun tune.
