When it comes to disrupting entire industries and building transformative customer experiences you have to have an exceptional team who can and build these products at pace. Our team at gravity9 are just that, highly skilled, driven, passionate and fun to work with.
This month we continue our Meet the gravity9’ers series with the introduction of: Nick Hoyle, User Experience Manager based in Leeds, United Kingdom.
What is your role at gravity9?
I’m a User Experience Manager at gravity9. I joined in September 2022 – a time of growth – to oversee the User Experience team, to facilitate in building out a future vision and grow our maturity in order to provide positive experiences for our customers and users.
What do you enjoy most about working at gravity9?
The autonomy across the business and trust in our people is a huge positive for me, allowing for me to make key decisions, shape my team and support the wider business in the best way possible!
What one piece of advice would you give to someone starting out in your line of work?
This is a great question; I think it would be “Don’t just concentrate on the tools or methods, think about all the soft skills you need and keep trying to develop them as much as possible.”
I’d also add; “Don’t worry that you don’t know everything, consume knowledge via books and the medium of your choice and never be afraid to ask for help.”
What can’t you start your day without?
The most obvious for me is coffee and a close second a swim or some form of exercise. I am always more productive and better focused after that!
What do you do in your spare time?
I’m hugely into my sport so I’m normally running, swimming, walking, or biking. If not doing sport, I am normally watching Arsenal F.C. test every emotion in my body on weekly basis… or listening to music!
What is the last movie you watched?
Probably not my last one, but the first one came to my mind, was Crash (when I was flying out for work)! It’s a great film with lots of thought-provoking moments!
What special skill / talent do you have (other than what you do for a living)?
I’m not sure I am that good at it so “talent” is strong word, but I know my way around a pair of Technics 1210s and a Mixer. I was very much into my DJing when I was younger.
What would be your dream vacation?
Oh wow, this is such a difficult one for me! I love travelling and have so many places on my list. I think up next for me is East Asia and Australia / New Zealand, with Canada not far behind, but honestly there are too many places! A road-trip exploring, and some unplanned trips are always great too!
What is the last song you had stuck in your head?
Currently this is Neck Deep – Heartbreak of the Century on repeat. I’m hanging on to my Pop Punk phase as long as I can!
