When it comes to disrupting entire industries and building transformative customer experiences, you have to have an exceptional team that can build these products at pace.

Our team at gravity9 is just that; highly skilled, driven, passionate, and fun to work with!

We continue our Meet the gravity9ers series with the introduction of Michalina Olczyk.

What is your role at gravity9?

I am a QA Consultant, so my role is to verify the software’s quality before it goes to the client. I check if the requirements are met, look for possible issues and improvements and work closely with the development team to make sure our application works as expected.

What do you enjoy most about working at gravity9?

I enjoy the flexibility – I work on different streams within one project so there’s always something to do. I can switch between the streams depending on the workload. Another thing would be the team. Everyone is capable, intelligent, and great at their job. Always there if I need any support or help – all my questions are answered. This makes working remotely so much easier.

What one piece of advice would you give to someone starting out in your line of work?

Be curious – don’t be afraid to ask questions. As a QA Engineer you will have many questions along the way, regarding processes, requirements, implementation and it’s up to you to get all the answers you need. I started out as a QA intern and quickly learned that without that skill I won’t get far.

What can’t you start your day without?

A cup of herbal tea, I really enjoy different ones like lemon balm or chamomile. I start each day with a blend that relaxes me and gets me in the right mindset, the opposite to coffee!

What do you do in your spare time?

Given the current situation, in my spare time I try to take care of myself the best way I can. There’s a lot of home cooking going on, reading books, yoga. Whenever possible I like to go hiking in the Polish mountains. We are very lucky here in Krakow, the mountains are just an hour’s drive away and they are beautiful, totally worth it!

What is the last movie you watched?

The last movie I watched was Spiderman No Way Home. I went to the cinema for the first time in 2 years so that was quite an experience. I do enjoy a Marvel movie. I watched a lot of them, some even more than once.

What special skill / talent do you have (other than what you do for a living)?

I have been thinking about this one for a bit, but I would say Interior Design. I’ve done a small renovation in my flat a while back and I really enjoyed it. I re-painted my walls and furniture, moved everything around. It felt amazing. I am also a go-to person for my friends and family to help with ideas for their homes, which is really flattering. If I wasn’t doing the job I am doing now, I would love to be an Interior Designer.

What would be your dream vacation?

A road trip anywhere. I like doing different things while vacationing – exploring the cities, hiking in the mountings, hanging out by the lake or sea. Last September I took a road trip around North Italy for two weeks, and it was the best vacation I’ve ever had. We stopped in some fantastic places. I loved Venice, Milan, Lake Garda, and the Dolomites. It was two weeks of the most amazing Italian views and pizza: I love Italian pizza!

What is the last song you had stuck in your head?

I think that was the hardest question for me because I have absolutely no memory of song titles or music artists. I had to go through my playlist to get this one right. I am quite a big fan of Drum and Bass and I’ve been listening to Forsaken or Good to Me by Alix Perez a lot lately.
